DO!

I am from the old school and when I was growing up, I had said I would never use a phone that had a camera on it where other people could see me while I was talking to them and this was many, many decades before cell phones! Crazy and who would have “thunk”? That is one of the reasons that they say to never say “never”!

It is definitely easier said than done, but if we want to learn or try something new then there will be many times when it will feel awkward and uncomfortable, but that is how we grow.

And its way past time for me to take the plunge and…

So, for now, I am going to work on…

getting out of my comfort zone

and to take steps to

try and better myself every day!

The title of this blog is: INVESTING IN MYSELF IN ORDER TO HELP MYSELF AND OTHERS.

But in order for me to help others, I REALLY NEED TO FEEL AND BE MY BEST!

WHICH IS WHY THEY SAY WHEN YOU ARE FLYING THAT YOU NEED TO PUT YOUR OWN OXYGEN ON BEFORE HELPING OTHERS.

THIS IS WHY I AM GOING TO FOCUS ON BETTERING MYSELF IN THIS BLOG.

IN ORDER FOR ME TO FOCUS, I WILL INCLUDE 3 THINGS TO HELP ME TO BE ACCOUNTABLE TO MYSELF AND THEY ARE TO…

W-IN, DO, & ADD A B.O.B!

W-IN!

1) I will weigh in(W-IN!) every week so I can measure my progress and to help keep me accountable to myself.

DO!

2) I will add a product, something I do, learn or anything that might help me better myself and possibly something out of my comfort zone! Yikes!

One of the most “out of my comfort zone” things for me to do is posting photos of myself, but I want to add something positive that I do for myself each week to help me to continue to take steps in the direction that I want to go to help myself so that I am better able to help others. In order for me to do that, I’m afraid that will include using some of my photos, but also thankfully other people and products too!

For example, walking in the gym for the 100 millionth and one time! And continue to walk in and do the work at the gym or wherever even if it is for whatever time that I would have. “Something” is better than “Nothing”, “Zip”, “Zero”, “Nada”, etc., … I think you get my point, but that is one of my biggest weaknesses is that I have lived by the “all or nothing” mindset and I normally don’t achieve my goals that way. If I don’t think I can get a full workout in, I tend do nothing, which something is a move forward no matter how small! Or if I go off I diet, I think that I have failed and quit!

So, I need to do something even if I only have a minute! I can do push-ups, sit ups, or squats for a minute! Or if I go off a diet, to pick myself up and continue on my plan. I have to keep reminding myself over and over again until I get it to sink into my hard head….

SOMETHING IS BETTER THAN NOTHING!

Lastly, I will build my own

Lastly, I will build my own…

B.O.B.

3) I will add 1 item a week to my B.O.B .and post a photo of it.

I thought since I will be putting together a 72 hour emergency overnight bag, I would try and define it as best as I can. I apologize in advance for any errors that I make! Back in the day, math was my better subject, but I have forgotten most of that and never really grasp the best grammar and punctuation usage rules, but…

A B.O.B. is abbreviated for bug out bag. It is often referred to as a 72-Hour Bag, a Get Out Of Dodge Bag(GOOD Bag), EVAC Bag, and a GO Bag. There are other names for it, but they all mean basically the same thing. It is a self-contained kit designed to get you through at least 72 hours if you need to leave your location of possible danger to a place of relative safety and security. Basically, to get you from point A to point B safely and as comfortably as possible!

The simple way for me to think of putting together a starter kit is for me to think of it like I am going to pack a 3 day overnight bag that I would pack if staying at a shelter and needed basic items to get thru that time as comfortably as possible.

72 hour emergency kit is very personalized to your specific needs and should be customized for the area you are live or are located at the time.

Every Emergency Management Agency recommends every person and pet have their own 72 hour emergency kit.

I think having a personal emergency kit ready for use at anytime as one of the most important items in emergency preparedness we can do for everyone in our family including our pets.

So they are prepared and have plenty of food so “cat” abolism doesn’t come in to play! JK! And the photo made me do it, but I hope you get my drift! Sense of humor is the best coping mode ever right? We love our Babe and Shadow and they loved each other and us! I just had to because the photo spoke for itself!

What natural disasters and man-made disasters are in you area? Reasons to evacuate and have a B.O.B. : Flooding, wildfires, house fires, hazardous spills, hurricane warnings, terrorist attacks, and many other reasons.

What do you want to take if you had 60 seconds to evacuate your home? Where do you go?
How are you going to communicate with other family members ?

It will be very stressful if we cannot reach our loved ones in an emergency and not knowing if they are ok or not.

So, at minimum, it’s very important to have their phone numbers and
an out of state contact we can communicate with if we cannot reach our family and friends in our local areas because of phone connections being disrupted.

These are very important questions that we all should have answered in advance, to make these stressful times a little less stressful!

Having a B.O.B. or 72 hour emergency go bag is like an insurance policy, it’s better to have it and never use it, then to need it and not have it!

This will be based on the “something is better than nothing” policy. That means that anything that you have or can purchase in your budget is best and that is why we aren’t covering brands, price, or quality at this time, but obviously, the better quality items are best if you have them or they fit into your budget.

A few smaller examples are; if you are stuck in traffic and need water or a snack, you get a paper cut and need a band aid, you are at a football game and need bug repellent, etc.,etc., etc. It can be used in small daily emergencies to larger ones and can help in having even a little extra peace of mind for you and your family and possibly help save lives.

Each week I am going to take a step to put together a B.O.B. or go bag. I divided it up into 12 categories to make it easier for me to put one together.
The Categories are: A Container to hold all my items, Water, Food, Clothes, Warmth and Shelter, Power, 1st Aid, Personal Hygiene, Sanitation, Communication, Tools and Security, and Miscellaneous

With that said, I willpost a weekly blog with…

1 Weigh IN, 1 Action Step, 1 B.O.B. Item 1 Blog at a Time!

Wow look at this!

This is an optional, highly
customizable off canvas area.
