Or Whether We Liked It Or Not!
“Ready or Not” reminds me of playing “Hide & Seek” when I was younger! Even if you weren’t ready and hadn’t found the perfect hiding spot, whoever was “it” would say “ready or not” “before coming after you and the others playing. It is just like in life, time moves on and “life happens” whether we like it or not and whether we are ready or not!
In 2002 we had to rebuild our house after a category 3 tornado hit our neighborhood(Photos below). We were very lucky that nobody was hurt or killed. Nobody even lost a pet on our street! A rainbow did appear in the sky after the storm. That’s always a sign of hope.
This isn’t the rainbow after the tornado. We didn’t have beautiful trees afterwards. We had one shabby looking tree left and that is the one we were going to have cut down before the tornado. It looked more like the photo below, but we didn’t capture the rainbow, but we heard that there was one that was seen by neighbors, but we didn’t see it.
We saw the love and kindness from family, friends, neighbors, and people we did not know who offered to help in any way they could. We saw the goodness of the human spirit after such destruction.
The kindness of the people we knew and didn’t know after the tornado was overwhelming! We were and are so grateful to have had the help and have experienced that kind of love and sacrifice from others not just that day, but everyday of our lives and we are so thankful!
We had to take a photo of the flag that my husband made of wood slats that was hanging on our garage that didn’t survive it(garage in the back of the photo shown below) along with the front porch that he built survived the tornado also!
